Essential Oils vs Rogaine

When it comes to skin & hair it’s important to me to find the most natural & sustainable solution to my needs before committing to drugs & medications. ⁣

Years ago when I lost the majority of my hair in illness, I turned to natural solutions to help me restore it to the state I’d spent my entire childhood nurturing. The two I used In combination with a carrier carrier oil (either jojoba, sweet almond or castor oil) were rosemary essential oil (REO) & peppermint essential oil (PEO). ⁣

✨𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐢𝐥⁣

In 2013 a study on mice theorized that rosemary competitively bound Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) receptors, blocking the DHT itself from binding to these sites & attacking hair follicles. As this mechanism is the root cause of androgenic alopecia & male/female pattern hair loss, REO was considered to be an effective treatment for the condition. ⁣

Later, in 2015, a study comparing REO to Minoxidil (Rogaine) 2% found the two to have comparable results in cases of androgenic alopecia but saw that REO had better results in the reduction of scalp itch. ⁣

This was further solidified in 2017 when it was found that the anti-fungal & anti-bacterial properties of REO prevented & treated hair loss due to scalp infections.⁣

The best way to avail of its benefits is to add a few drops of REO to a carrier oil & apply it to your scalp overnight, a few times a week. ⁣

✨𝐏𝐞𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐎𝐢𝐥⁣

In 2014 a study compared the topical applications of PEO with normal saline, jojoba oil, & Minoxidil (Rogaine) 3%. PEO showed the most prominent hair growth, dermal thickness, follicle number & follicle depth in this group! ⁣

Plus, with its cooling effect & the promotion of blood circulation to the area of application, PEO was found to promote more activity in the anagen/growth phase of hair. ⁣

I recommend adding a few drops of PEO to the REO + carrier oil concoction above & massaging your scalp using your finger tips with your head upside down after distributing the solution evenly across the scalp. Leave this on overnight ideally, & see the health of your hair improve dramatically.
